Meet Sophia

Founder and owner of Lily Tree Therapy, LLC. Sophia is a passionate Christian and LMSW. Sophia is dedicated to bridging the gap between therapy and faith from a standpoint that maintains ethical principles without sacrificing Biblical accuracy.

Sophia started Lily Tree after noticing the gap in spiritual care that therapists were providing and the gap in evidence-based practices provided by counsel and guidance within the church. If you are a therapist, pastor, or ministry leader providing counsel to members within your ministry, Lily Tree Therapy was made for you. Grow in confidence and help others heal from a biopsychosocial-spiritual perspective.

I believe great therapists are never finished learning.

Whether you're just beginning your career or looking to thoughtfully incorporate your client’s faith in your clinical work, my goal is to provide practical, evidence-based education that helps you serve clients with greater confidence, wisdom, and integrity.

As a practicing therapist, I know what it's like to leave a session wondering, "Did I handle that well?" I've asked that same question. That's why every training, resource, and course I create is designed to be immediately applicable—not just informative.

My hope is simple: that you leave every training feeling more equipped than when you arrived.

My Approach

Theologically Sound

Faith can be one of the most meaningful parts of a person's life. It can also be a source of questions, struggle, healing, and hope.

When clients bring their faith into therapy, clinicians often find themselves wondering:

"What do I say?"

"How do I respond ethically?"

"Where are the professional boundaries?"

These are important questions.

I believe therapists don't need to choose between being clinically excellent and thoughtfully engaging with a client's spirituality. When done ethically and with humility, spirituality can be explored in ways that honor both professional standards and the client's own values and goals.

My courses train clinicians to integrate a client's spiritual life into client-centered care — building competence in faith-informed treatment, clarifying ethical boundaries around discussing faith in session, and identifying extrabiblical beliefs that contribute to client distress.

My aim is to help clinicians develop the knowledge, confidence, and clinical judgment needed to navigate these conversations with integrity and compassion.

My Method

Mental health is complex. People are complex. That means our approach should be thoughtful, practical, and grounded.

My teaching is built around three core principles:

Evidence-Based

Research matters. Every training begins with established clinical principles and current best practices because the people we care for deserve competent, effective care.

Ethical

Working with people means stewarding tremendous trust. Whether we're discussing diagnosis, trauma, substance use, or spirituality, ethical practice isn't an afterthought, it's the foundation for insuring that we navigate these topics from a client-centered approach.

A final note

If you're looking for quick tips alone, there are plenty of places to find them.

If you're looking to become the kind of clinician who is thoughtful, grounded, ethically sound, and genuinely confident in the therapy room, I hope you'll find a home here.

Welcome to Lily Tree Therapy.
